Yes — you can select your provider when booking online. If you’re new and not sure who to pick, browse the team page to see each person’s specialties, or choose “first available” and we’ll match you.
We are an appointment-based salon. Our studio is located on the second floor of our building, so dropping in isn’t really how we work — booking online guarantees your spot and your provider’s full attention.
We require at least 24 hours notice for cancellations or reschedules. Late cancellations and no-shows are subject to a 50% charge of the total service amount. We want to be straightforward about why: when you don’t show up, your provider doesn’t get paid — and that appointment could have gone to someone else who needed it.
We do have discretion on this policy. Life happens — illness, childcare falling through, genuine emergencies — and we’re human about it. What we ask is that you extend us the same courtesy: communicate as early as you can.
We’ve chosen not to require a credit card on file because we want to stay flexible with our clients. Please don’t take advantage of that.
Hair Removal Prep
For best results, we recommend about three weeks of growth after shaving. Two weeks can sometimes be too short for wax or sugar to grip properly, which means you won’t get a clean result — and nobody wants to come back for a do-over.
Come clean and dry — no lotion, oil, or product on the skin the day of your appointment. Avoid retinoids, exfoliants, and direct sun exposure on the area for 48 hours beforehand. If you’re sensitive to discomfort, an over-the-counter pain reliever taken about an hour before can help take the edge off.
Yes — this is important. If you are currently using any topical retinoids (retinol, tretinoin), tetracycline, or other exfoliating topicals, you must be off them for at least one full week before any hair removal service. These products thin and sensitize the skin, which can cause lifting, tearing, or significant irritation during waxing or sugaring.
If you are on Accutane (isotretinoin), we cannot perform any hair removal services — period. Accutane affects the skin at a cellular level and makes waxing and sugaring unsafe regardless of how long you’ve been on it. Please let us know at booking if this applies to you.
Most clients come back within four to six weeks. With regular waxing or sugaring, hair tends to grow back finer and sparser over time — so the longer you keep up with it, the easier each appointment gets.
Wax adheres to both skin and hair and is removed against the direction of hair growth. Sugar paste — made from sugar, lemon, and water — adheres mostly to the hair itself and removes with the direction of growth, causing less breakage and irritation. If you’re prone to ingrown hairs, sensitivity, or reactions, sugaring is often the better fit. Both services are available across our full hair removal menu.
Lashes & Brows
Avoid water, steam, and oil-based products around the lash area for the first 24–48 hours after your appointment. Use a lash-safe cleanser, and avoid rubbing or pulling at the extensions. Fills are recommended every two to three weeks to keep your set looking full and even.
A lash lift works with your natural lashes — it adds a semi-permanent curl that opens up the eye without adding any length or volume. No fills, no maintenance, lasts six to eight weeks. Extensions add individual synthetic lashes to each natural lash for a fuller, longer look and require fills every two to three weeks. The lift is the low-maintenance option; extensions are the high-impact one.
Our Studio
Yes — fully and without reservation. Treat is a female-owned Portland small business and we welcome all races, religions, countries of origin, sexual orientations, and genders. All bodies are safe and welcome here. Our services are anatomy-based, never gender-based.
We do want to be honest about one thing: our studio is not physically accessible. We are located on the second floor of our building and only accessible by stairs — there is no elevator. We know this is a real limitation and we’re genuinely sorry if it prevents you from visiting us.
We are located at 3909 NE MLK Jr Blvd, Suite 203, Portland, OR 97212 — on the second floor.
There is a parking lot shared with Café Olli that you’re welcome to use, plus free street parking in the surrounding neighborhood. Access to our studio is via a staircase around the back of the building — come up the stairs and head straight down the hall. There are signs to guide you, but if you get lost, just call us at 971.708.9592 and we’ll talk you in.
